Are You Living In The Zone Or On The Edge?
Do you wake up every morning with low energy, stress and an inability to smile? When was the last time you felt exhilarated about anything? Life in the comfort zone is just that, comfortable and… boring! Nothing ever really changes, but nothing new has an opportunity to come in either. We become complacent with life, leading to a stagnancy and “taking life for granted” attitude.
When life stalls you can feel underwhelmed and things may begin to resemble the movie “Groundhog Day”, everyday is like deja vu.
Or are you someone that lives life by the seam of their pants? Are you constantly on the go, exploring new places and meeting new people? Does the idea of routine just scare the hell out you? This may sound like fun but eventually the excitement and fast pace will have you burnt out! At times do you feel your relationships lack substance or perhaps you struggle to finish projects because boredom settles in once your excitement fizzles out?
As you can imagine either extreme can be detrimental in creating relationships in your life you are looking for. Every relationship experiences both of these symptoms. When a relationship is new and fresh, everything can be exhilarating and you are more open to risk and new experiences. After a period of time, the relationship slowly transitions into the comfort zone because the newness of the relationship wears off. Physically, your brain isn’t releasing the same amounts of dopamine as the environment and situation becomes more familiar.
How do you keep the relationship fresh? Well, introduce new experiences and create new memories. You don’t have to do anything grandiose, sometimes a small tweak in what you already do can create a whole new experience for your relationship.
Having the love you desire and maintaining strong relationships requires making an investment in yourself. When the relationship and connection with yourself is deeper, your confidence helps you find a healthy balance between living in your comfort zone and on the edge which will trickle over into your romantic relationships. The most significant relationship you will ever have is with yourself! When you are in tune with yourself, those that share your interests and beliefs just gravitate to you and connection happens at a deeper level.
