[AskMG] How To Stop Dating The Same Type Of Person
Have you gone out on a date with someone and realized they’re no different from the last person you dated?
Or, the person before them…or, the person before that?
If this is happening, or has happened to you, it’s time to face it my friend, you are caught up in a pattern where you’re basically dating the same person with a different name.
Here are 3 ways to put a stop to that:
#1 – Create your dating purpose statement.
First thing I suggest you do is create a dating purpose statement. What’s that, you ask? It’s a statement of your goal or purpose for dating put into words so when you’re asked the question: “What are you looking for?” you can answer clearly, confidently and most importantly, weed out dates who don’t have the same relationship goal as you.
Don’t ignore this. You need to be able to clearly communicate what you want, so you don’t waste anymore of your time. Once you do, you’ll notice that you start to attract different people as the duds fizzle out.
Don’t worry whether or not being direct will run people away. If they do head for the woods because you admit that you want someone who is ready for a serious relationship, then you don’t’ need them anyway.
#2 – Check for patterns of behavior.
The next thing you should do is check your own patterns of behavior. Are you going to the same places over and over again? And, are you picking people with the same traits? Start changing up some of what you’re looking for. You’d be surprised at how many “maybes” have turned into long term relationship for people all because they changed up their patterns.
#3 – Look at how you show up on your social media.
Another thing to check into is how you show up on social media. These days, your social media presence is huge because with the simple click of a button someone can find out almost everything about you without having to ask you a thing.
People pass judgments based on what they see, so clean up your social media.
That means being aware of what you look like. Are you a party animal? Are you a prude? Got no hobbies? These are all things that help shape people’s perception of you.
So, make sure your social media shows a healthy and balanced depiction of who you are.
If you see a pattern in the people you date, do an audit on yourself using the reasons I stated above. Doing simple stuff like…setting a dating intention, changing up behavior patterns, and cleaning up your social media presence may be all the effort it takes to attract better prospects.
